Life Advocates Fight Stealth Illinois Abortion Clinic
by Jennifer Mesko, associate editor
8-27-2007

Around-the-clock protest and prayer aim to keep Planned Parenthood out; lawsuit possible.

Planned Parenthood tried to sneak its largest clinic in the country into Aurora, Ill., but residents are having none of it.

Last month, neighbors of the "Gemini Health Clinic" were shocked to learn the $7.5 million facility will actually be used for abortions. On Saturday, more than 1,200 pro-lifers gathered near the building to express their outrage. Some marched with signs, while others prayed or handed out leaflets in the surrounding neighborhoods. Hannity Video Exposes Planned Parenthood Deception

Aurora, IL – Fox News host Sean Hannity aired a powerful exposé earlier this week about how Planned Parenthood lied to the City of Aurora, Illinois, about the name and true nature of their business in order to obtain permits to build a large abortion clinic in the community.

Operation Rescue has been working with the Pro-Life Action League to expose this deception and block permanent occupancy permits for what has become known as the “abortion fortress. Read more here

Today, October 1, is the first day of what is widely
recognized as "Respect Life" month.

As 40 Days for Life continues to gain momentum in
cities across the country -- saving lives in locations
including Charleston, South Carolina; Port St. Lucie,
Florida; Indianapolis, Indiana; and West Palm Beach,
Florida -- many churches and organizations are gearing
up for October Respect Life activities.
These projects fit beautifully with 40 Days for Life
and I would encourage you to participate in as many of
these as possible -- especially if you live in a place
that doesn't have an active 40 Days for Life campaign!

1.) During "Respect Life" month, many churches conduct
local pro-life activities to help promote the Sanctity
of Human Life. Please do everything you can to help
promote and participate in these important activities!

2.) Today, October 1, is recognized by many groups as
"Pro-Life Memorial Day" to remember the more than 48
million innocent children lost to abortion in America
since Roe v. Wade. Groups are holding candlelight
vigils, prayer services, and encouraging people to wear
pro-life t-shirts today. Get more info at:
http://www.prolifememorialday.com

3.) The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops
(USCCB) recognizes Sunday, October 7, as "Respect Life
Sunday" and has many resources for that day, as well as
the rest of Respect Life month. Get more info at:

4.) Sunday, October 7, is the 20th nationwide Life
Chain, a peaceful and prayerful witness of Americans
standing for one hour praying for our nation. These
wonderful events will be held in hundreds of cities
across America and many 40 Days for Life locations are
participating in Life Chain as part of their efforts.
The founder and president of Life Chain, Royce Dunn,
has been one of the most vocal supporters of 40 Days
for Life and he is an amazing man of faith! Learn more:

5.) On October 23, people will give up their voices for
a day in solidarity for the children lost to abortion.
Red arm bands and duct tape will identify them as
taking part in the Pro-life Day of Silent Solidarity.
They will carry fliers explaining why they are silent
and educate others about abortion. Learn more at:

6.) Many of the 3,000+ Christian pregnancy resource
centers around the country hold fundraising banquets
and events during this month. Please attend any of
these events held in your area and be as generous as
possible to help this crucial front-line work! Find a
pregnancy center near you by visiting:

PRESENTATION SPEAKER:
Josh Brahm - Director of Education & Public Relations at Georgia Right to Life.

After moving to Atlanta in 2002, Josh jumped into pro-life ministry with both feet, starting Georgia Teens for Life within a year and designing multimedia presentations to be shown to various churches and schools. Since then, he has done interviews on TV and radio and given presentations to some of the biggest churches in Georgia. He's also publicly debated leaders from Georgians for Choice, the National Abortion Rights Action League, Planned Parenthood, and one of the leading abortion facilities in Atlanta. He has become an expert on the issues of abortion and stem cell research.

WHY ATTEND?
Increase awareness of pro-life vs. pro-abortion issues so as to ACT ON and DEFEND our Christian values and beliefs relative to respect for all life - from fertilization until natural death.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
Parents, Teens, Teachers, Clergy, Home school families and all interested individuals.

WHAT INFORMATION WILL BE COVERED?
Tomorrow night, Josh will be using his popular multimedia presentation Stem Cell Research: What the Media is Leaving Out. Whether you are new to the topic of stem cell research, or if you're an expert on the issue, you are sure to learn something in this presentation that is designed to challenge, educate and equip you on one of the most controversial issues of the decade.

This is the presentation that Scott Klusendorf, one of the top pro-life speakers and debaters in Georgia, sat in on and said afterwards, "Josh Brahm is an outstanding young talent. Josh, only 23, is an excellent communicator and a rising star in the field of pro-life apologetics. He's shown a remarkable desire to both master and communicate the essentials of the pro-life position. He does both extremely well. Josh is fun to watch. He not only connects well with his audience, he also demonstrates - both through logical argument and thoughtful illustrations - that the pro-life position is true and reasonable to believe. I highly recommend Josh's speaking abilities, both for youth and adult audiences. The future of our cause is indeed bright, provided those of us in leadership positions can cultivate more outstanding apologists like him. Josh Brahm is one of the most talented young pro-life apologists I know."

Stem Cell Research: What the Media is Leaving Out includes:
- What are stem cells?
- How does stem cell research work?
- What are the different types of SCR?
- How does Jurassic Park fit in?
- What has already been cured by SCR?
- The 3 hurdles in ESCR
- Are there really unwanted frozen embryos?
- The 3 problems with Embryonic SCR: It's NOT fiscally responsible, it's NOT practically beneficial, and it's NOT morally justifiable
- Answering the top 10 pro-ESCR arguments
- Will ESCR ever be successful?
- What's the conncetion between ESCR and the Nazi holocaust?
- What can we do about it?

TOGETHER FOR LIFE - TUESDAY, JANUARY 22, 2008
Here are things I believe as a Pro-Life person:
I believe that the unborn child is human.
I believe life begins at conception.
I believe that abortion is not safe.
I believe that abortion is a war on the unborn.
I believe that the Roe v. Wade decision, legalizing abortion on demand in America, was one of the most important and devastating Supreme Court decisions.
I believe that a constitutional amendment should be passed that gives equal protection to all living humans, including the unborn.
I believe that the violence inside and outside abortion clinics is morally wrong.
I believe that rape and incest are horrible crimes and should be punished, but I don't believe that a child conceived from either should be killed.
I do not believe that the government should fund abortions.
I do not believe that the government should fund Planned Parenthood - the largest national supplier of abortions.
Being a religious person, I believe that the Bible backs up my views on abortion.
Here is what I think all Pro-Life people should be doing to help stop abortion: Click

Video of the week: Abortion and Scientology

In the past few months, the Church of Scientology has been getting a lot of negative publicity, as critics have attacked it for various reasons.  Few are aware, though, of the many reports that Scientology members and staff have been pressured and forced into having abortions.  This week's video is entitled "Letter to Scientology Child" and contains the remorseful musings of post-abortive parents.

The dream of Martin Luther King, Jr. was more than desegregation. It was prosperity, life and liberty -- Constitutional metrics for success -- for every person of every color in every stage of life.
